(5 May 2009 – HOUSTON, TEXAS) Attendance at the 2009 OTC (4-7 May 2009) is showing a strong start. On Monday, 4 May, registration on-site was higher than 2008.  The expectation is that final attendance will approach the 65,000 mark.

Registration lines are short this year because OTC has streamlined the registration process by having online registration that allows attendees to quickly print their badges.  There is also a large registration site in the new Arena location, where shuttles are dropping off arrivals.

“We are pleased with the attendance at OTC. Attendees are getting the word about the health precautions we are taking, and also about the extended technical program offering more special panels, breakfasts and luncheons. In addition, the exhibition is the largest since 1982,” said OTC 2009 Chairperson Don Vardeman. “Even in the face of global economic situation and initial flu concerns, OTC remains THE show to attend for offshore resources development.”

OTC will release final attendance figures Thursday afternoon. OTC does not release daily attendance figures.
